THE MAN AND THE MONSTER 1958 (CASA NEGRA)

Well done Mexican horror.

Enrique Rambal is Sam Magno, a failed pianist who sells his soul to the devil in order to become the worlds best musician. He does get his wish, but every time he plays a certain tune on the piano he turns into a monster that has strong urges to kill.

Abel Salazar, who also produced this gem stars as a writer for a music magazine who tries to interview Magno and soon discovers his very dark secret. The sets are minimal as is usually the case with south of the border horror but the acting is very good and the story moves along quickly. The make-up for the monster is pretty cool too.

This is another underrated horror thriller from Mexico and Casa Negra brings us an excellent print with all new subtitles. This has been OOP for a very long time and it took me two years to finally get a copy of it again. Highly Recommended horror.
