DEVIL DOLL 1936 (WARNER)

Strange Tod Browning horror film.

Lionel Barrymore plays a Devil's Island escapee who uses miniature humans to carry out revenge on those who framed him. He learns how to do this from a man who escaped with him and then dies.

He carries out his revenge on three men, disguised as an elderly woman, and once that is done he decides to stop his life of crime and hate. He sees his daughter, played by the lovely Maureen O' Sullivan and then leaves never to be seen again.

This is a bizarre film that is a combination of sci-fi and horror and really doesn't fit into 1936, but director Tod Browning makes it work very well. The ending is a little surprising, but touching and sad at the same time. Barrymore is excellent.

If you get a chance, see this thriller and experience a different kind of film.
