FLASH GORDON 1954-1955 (MILL CREEK)

Many years ago I did a short review of one episode that I had, and I haven't seen any since then.

Until now. I managed to watch 14 of them and found the show to be very entertaining and very odd at the same time. Steve Holland stars as Flash and he does a good job. Dale is played by Irene Champlin and Dr. Zarkov is handled by Joseph Nash.

This was produced in West Berlin and ran for 34 episodes making it a one year run. As with all episodic TV, the episodes are hit and miss, but for the most part I really liked them.

The sets are always bizarre, and I think this is because it's German and they have their own way of doing things. Some of the outdoor footage seems to have been shot around some still destroyed buildings from WW2.

Some of the costumes are straight out of a high school play and the acting by the mostly German cast is very bad at times, but it all still works just fine.

I am not sure how many of these are available to see and the show still has a lot of fans so I would love to see them remastered for a blu-ray release. However I am sure that will never happen.

All I can add is that if you like vintage TV sci-fi you should really check these out. The quality varies a lot, but for the most part all are very good and watchable.
