A young girl played by Susan Gordon sees her mother (Zsa Zsa Gabor) burned alive in a house fire, and this causes her to have to be put in a Convent mental hospital for 3 years.
When she gets out she is picked up by her father (Dom Ameche) and his new wife Francene (Martha Hyer).
At the house all seems well until Susan begins to see visions of her mother as well as many other images involving toys, attacking hawks and bleeding portraits.
Ameche handles the role of the father very well and Hyer is one of the screens most unforgettably greedy women. She steals the entire show.
The ending is a little contrived, but it still works as the two who actually killed her mother years ago come clean about the crime. The little song about worms is also eerie. Once heard...never forgotten.
The Blu-ray is very nice and the color really pops on this one. Some trailers are also included on this disc. If you like horror films that slowly build, check it out. I liked it better than I thought I would.
