GENOCIDE 1967 (CRITERION)

Another great film from the Land Of The Rising Sun.

Cathy Horan, who many of you would recognize from many Japanese horror films has a leading role as a young woman who is a Nazi concentration camp survivor who hates mankind and has bred insects which will destroy the world.

This is a very well made and very downbeat film with an apocalyptic ending. Presented in a beautiful widescreen print from Criterion, this was the last hurrah from Shochiku studios and their horror films.

Horan is beautiful and it's good to finally see her in a top role. This is highly recommended horror that you simply must see.

I BURY THE LIVING 1958 (MILLCREEK)

Odd horror with an unexpected ending.

Richard Boone stars as a man who runs a cemetery that finds he may have the power of life and death involving a strange cemetery map and some black and white pins.

Theodore Bikel is Andy, the caretaker and Peggy Mauer is Boone's girlfriend. The music is by Gerald Fried and works very, very well with the film. Albert Band directed and it slowly builds to a climax I had to actually do a double take to fully understand.

I won't spoil it, but I couldn't believe it. The supporting cast includes Herbert Anderson, Robert Osterloh, Russ bender and Howard Smith. I recommend this thriller for it's unique approach to the horror genre and the unbelievable ending.

DJANGO KILLS SILENTLY 1968 (TIMELESS)

The man who brought you Bloody Pit Of Horror strikes again!!

George Eastman is Django as he heads to the town of Santa Ana at the request of a friend who is trying to protect a valuable shipment from a Mexican bandit named El Santo!!

As far as spaghetti westerns go, this isn't a bad one at all. There is plenty of gun fighting and beautiful women to keep one's interest, and Eastman does a good job in the title role.

This is another of the estimated 50 unofficial sequels to the film "Django" that cashed in on the popularity of the character.

DEVIL'S HAND 1962 (MILLCREEK)

One of my favorites of forgotten horror.

Sexy Linda Christian plays Bianca Milan, a woman who uses witchcraft to get a man to fall in love with her and join the coven. Robert Alda is the man she wants and Ariadna Welter is the woman he really loves.

This is actually an odd but very entertaining film that doesn't get as much attention as it rightly deserves. The opening theme music is way cool and the rest of the cast consists of Neil Hamilton as the cult leader, Bruno VeSota, Jeannie Carmen and Diana Spears.

Underrated and often ignored, this little film should please most horror fans. Check it out sometime and you might be surprised.

MAGNUM FORCE 1973 (WARNERS)

Clint Eastwood is back as Harry Callahan.

In this film Callahan is on the trail of four vigilante cops who go above the law to kill the criminal element. Lots of action, as always and a damn fine cast.

The cops are played by Robert Urich, Kip Niven, David Soul and Tim Matheson. Hal Holbrook is a crooked cop who wants Callahan dead and Richard Devon is a gangster who gets what's coming to him.

This was the second outing for the Callahan character and nobody does it better than Eastwood. Highly Recommended for any movie lover.

BIRTHDAY WISHES TO....

TNA NO SURRENDER 2010 (NAVARRE)

Going back to the wrestling archives one more time.

Eight classic matches from the yearly event held by TNA Impact Wrestling. This card features several classic matches including the Jeff Hardy Vs. Kurt Angle match that is one of the best the company has ever put on.

You also have Douglas Williams Vs. Sabu, and "I Quit" match with AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer and the knockouts with Madison Rayne vs. Velvet Sky. If you like pro wrestling, you will want to check this out if you haven't already done so.

THE MAD MONSTER 1942 (TREELINE)

An underrated classic from PRC!

George Zucco is a mad scientist who turns his handyman into a werewolf via a serum and then sets out to have his creation kill all the scientists who called him crazy.

Glenn Strange is the handyman who is a cross between Lenny in "Of Mice And Men" and any werewolf character in any number of films. Anne Nagel is Zucco's daughter and is menaced by the monster at the climax.

Not a bad film by any means and a recommended one for fans of low budget 40's horror.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...

ECW UNRELEASED VOL 1 2012 (WWE)

Another excellent 3 disc set from WWE.

This set contains some of the most brutal matches in ECW history and some of the all time classics as well including the Tommy Dreamer vs. Tazz for the ECW Championship belt that the WWE legally prohibited from being shown.

You'll also see Shane Douglas Vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, Tommy Dreamer Vs. Raven, Sabu vs. Tazz and many, many more. This is simply a must for wrestling fans and ECW fans in particular. Very Highly Recommended.

LEGEND OF BIGFOOT 1976 (MILLCREEK)

A documentary about one of the worlds greatest mysteries.

Ivan Marx a noted tracker for the Government turned his interests to finding Bigfoot in 1976 and made this documentary about his search for the elusive beast.

Lots of nature footage goes by as Marx narrates about his exploits and his search. It's pretty cut and dried as to how it's going to end up, but Marx never gave up trying to find the beast.

It's interesting if you like such things as this, and I do. I used to see these on TV a lot back in the good old days. Recommended for curious people.

I DIED A THOUSAND TIMES 1955 (WARNER ARCHIVES)

A great color film noir!

Jack Palance stars as "Mad Dog" Earle in this very well made remake of High Sierra. Palance is a criminal sprung from jail by a high living gangster who wants him to work with three young punks to pull off a daring robbery.

Earl Holliman, Lee Marvin and Shelley Winters are the people involved in the crime as well as Perry Lopez who is a very scared man who works at the front desk of the hotel that the gangster wants knocked off.

I found myself really relating to the Palance character of Earle,a world weary man tired of young people thinking they know how to do a man's work and who's only friend is a friendly dog.

This is a well made and paced remake of a true classic, but it actually has it's own merits thanks to a stellar cast and very good director Stuart Heisler. Warne Archive has released this is a beautiful cinemascope print in gorgeous color. The rest of the cast includes lovely Lori Nelson, Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez, Lon Chaney, Jr., Olive Carey, Ralph Moody and Richard Davalos. Highly Recommended!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO......
