VINCENT PRICE: THE VERSATILE VILLIAN 1997 (FOX)

Price was one of a kind.

Vincent Price will always be one of my favorite all time actors, and this biography covers his life as an actor, author and art collector as well as his many, many fine films.

As anyone who reads this blog knows, Price starred in such films as Madhouse, Pit & The Pendulum, Champagne For Caesar and many, many more. I remember watching this and finding out Price had died a few days before the airing of this show and it hit me right in the gut.

A&E does a wonderful job with this and if you like movies I recommend this as it really keeps your attention for the entire 45 minutes.

STEVE MCQUEEN THE ESSENCE OF COOL 2005 (WARNERS)

This is a great documentary looking at the life and films of Steve McQueen.

Turner Classic Movies produced this 90 minute look at the life of one of the best known actors of our time and the movies he was in. Many people are interviewed including his son Chad and co-stars like Don Gordon.

If you are a McQueen fan or love the movies he was in, then this is for you and it is included as an extra on the Bullitt dvd from Warners. Recommended!!

TWO ON A GUILLOTINE 1965 (WARNER ARCHIVE)

A vastly underrated film.

Cesar Romero is a very eccentric magician whose two year old daughter is sent to live with an aunt. Twenty years later she returns to see her father buried and finds out she has inherited his house, as well as $300,000 dollars.

In order to get the money she must spend 7 nights in the house, and that is where the fun begins. Bizarre noises, ghosts and other assorted things happen. Sexy Connie Stevens is the young woman and Dean Jones is her soon to be boyfriend that helps her as she stays at the house.

A wonderful example of filmmaking shows you don't need tons of gore or foul language or anything to make a great horror tale. Directed by William Conrad, this film really delivers the goods, and my God does Stevens look hot!

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Parley Bear, John Hoyt, Virginia Gregg and Connie Gilchrist. Warner Archive has released this is a beautiful remastered widescreen edition. Highly Recommended!!

CORPSE VANISHES 1942 (TREELINE)

A very low budget Bela Lugosi gem.

Lugosi is Dr. Lorenz, who kidnaps brides and takes some fluid from them and injects it into his wife to keep her young.

This is a silly but very engaging premise and the movie moves along briskly to it's very odd conclusion. Elizabeth Russell is Lugosi's long suffering wife, Tris Coffin is another Dr. who suspects Lugosi of foul play, and Luana Walters is a reporter tracking down the murderer.

Great Monogram horror film from the early 40's. Highly Recommended!!

DJANGO'S CUT PRICE CORPSES 1971 (TIMELESS)

Once again, one of the over 50 unofficial sequels to Django.

Jeff Cameron plays Django this time around as he searches for a group of bank robbers who have stolen a huge sum of money.

Sadly this is one of the more lackluster efforts I have seen in the Spaghetti wester genre. Not much actually happens except a lot of gunfights, and the acting is almost sub par.

The other films I have reviewed in this series have been rather well made, but this really let me down. I would say see it for hardcore Spaghetti western fans, but others should really pass on it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO.....

MADHOUSE 1974 (TGG GROUP)

Great horror with Peter Cushing and Vincent Price...

Price plays an actor named Paul Toombes, who is released from an asylum after having a mental breakdown after his lover is decapitated by a mysterious intruder.

Years later he is making a television show about his most famous character, "Dr. Death" when gruesome murders again start and everyone suspects him. Peter Cushing is his manager and friend and Robert Quarry in a hot shot producer.

This is very twisted and bizarre and has a very odd ending involving Price and his old flame played by Adrienne Corri. Rounding out the cast to this fun horror film for fans is Natasha Payne, and the incredibly sexy Linda Hayden as a young starlet who tries to blackmail Price into making her a star...but that plan backfires big time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Ted DiBiase is 59, and Bobby Goldsboro is 72.

KING OF THE ZOMBIES 1941 (TREELINE)

This has always been a favorite of mine.

Three men crash land on an island that they find a german doctor living on and his army of zombies. Seems the doc is working to make an army of these things as well as learn secrets to sell to the Nazis.

Henry Victor is the doctor, Dick Purcell and John Archer are two of the men stranded and then you have the wonderful Mantan Moreland as Jefferson Jackson who gives the best performance in the film!! I love anything Mantan does as it is always funny and very witty. Lovely Joan Woodbury is the unwilling helper of the doctor.

This movie is a hell of a lot of fun, which most modern films aren't. If you want a very entertaining way to spend 67 minutes, this is the film for you. Recommended!!

THE HISTORY OF TNA YEAR 1 2007 (NAVARRE)

Digging into the wrestling archives once again.

This disc runs little over three hours and brings you a pretty comprehensive look at the first year of the wrestling company owned by Dixie Carter. There are interviews with everyone who was a part of putting the entire company together and it is a very interesting look at the industry as a whole.

This also includes some great clips and full matches from the companies first year. If you're a fan of wrestling you will want to check this out. It is a shame they never have come out with ant other subsequent volumes.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO......

BULLITT 1968 (WARNERS)

A great classic film.

Steve McQueen is a San Francisco detective who is trying to solve the murder of a man he was protecting for a congressional hearing on crime.

This is the movie with the most classic car chase in film history. Nobody will ever duplicate it. Jacqueline Bissett is McQueen's lover, Robert Vaughn is the Congressman who tries to throw his weight around at Bullitt and Don Gordon is Bullitt's partner.

McQueen turns in a first rate performance as does the entire cast. Violent, fast paced action thriller for fans of great cinema. The cast is rounded out by Norman Fell, Simon Oakland, George Stanford Brown, and Robert Duvall.

A TRIBUTE TO THE SEXY CAROLINE MUNRO

One of the most beautiful women on the planet is celebrating her birthday today. I first saw her in a film in 1974 entitled Golden Voyage Of Sinbad and I fell madly in love with her, and I am still madly in love with her today. I talked to her a couple of years ago and have never had a better conversation. I love you Caroline and have a great day!! I have included some of my favorite pics of her for your viewing pleasure.

No wonder films like Golden Voyage Of Sinbad, Dracula AD 1972, Spy Who Loved Me, Starcrash and I don;t Want To be Born are some of my favorite films.
