BOSS NIGGER 1975 (VCI)

An excellent blaxpolitation western!!

No, I am not going to go PC on my blog so quit whining about the title of the movie. Fred Williamson wrote and stars in this film about a black cowboy who arrives in a small town and makes himself Sheriff to clean up all the injustice that is happening. D'Urville Martin is his sidekick and the main villian, Jed Clayton is played by William Smith, an icon in these kinds of movies. There is a lot of violence and fistfights in this film, but amn, does it pack a wallop. The cast is rounded out by R.G. Armstrong, Barbara Leigh, Don Barry, Carmen Haywood and Carmen Zapata. This is actually one of the best westerns I have seen in some time and it is a shame this gets so ignored because of it's title. Lighten up people and check out this excellent little film.

VICTORY ROAD 2009 (NAVARRE)

More from the wrestling archives.

TNA wrestling held it's 2009 Victory Road PPV on July 19th and it was highlighted by the three sexiest women in wrestling, Angelina Love, Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky. The Beautiful People as they made the show special in their own way. The posters for this were the best selling in the company's history. Other matches for this event were Sting ve. Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle Vs. Mick Foley, Abyss vs. Dr. Stevie and much more. If you like pro wrestling, I recommend this particular disc.

AMAZING MR. X 1948 (TREE LINE)

Interesting horror mystery.

Lynn Bari stars as a young woman who thinks she hears her dead husbands voice and soon runs into a psychic who seems to know all about her and her dead husband. The psychic is played by Turhen Bay. Lovely Cathy O' Donnell is Bari's sister who soon falls for Bey and Richard carlson is Bari's lover who tries to make her see the truth. This film works very, very well as a horror film and a mystery. The black and white photography is very good and works well for the film. Recommended for any film fan who likes horror and mystery.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO........

ST. VALENTINES DAY MASSACRE 1967 (FOX)

One of my all time favorites!!

An all star cast appears in this Roger Corman directed classic about the events leading up to the massacre as well as the event itself. Jason Robards is Al Capone, the man who was most involved with the killings and Ralph Meeker is George "Bugs" Moran who was Capone's intended victim in the massacre. The movie is told in a semi-documentary style. The cast is a B movie lovers dream and includes George Segal, Jean Hale, Clint Ritchie, Frank Silvera, Joseph Campanella, Richard Bakalyan, David Canary, Bruce Dern, Harold J. Stone, Celia Lovsky, Kurt Kreuger, Paul Richards, Joe Turkel, Milton Frome, Tom Reese, John Agar, Reed Hadley, Gus Trikonis, Jack Nicholson, Mary Grace Canfield, Charles Dierkop, Alex Rocco, Alex D'Arcy, and Leo Gordon. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

KING KONG 1933 (WARNER)

Still the all time classic!!

You all know the story....A movie producer named Carl Denham travels to Skull Island with his film crew and a lovely blonde actress that the natives on the island kidnap and give as a gift to Kong, a giant ape. Nothing will EVER top this for pure entertainment film making. Robert Armstrong is excellent as Denham, Bruce Cabot is Jack Driscoll and of course the ever sexy Fay Wray is Ann Darrow. No woman of her time was ever as beautiful as Wray and seeing her on screen always makes me happy. I love her work..always have, always will. The Special Effects by Marcel Delgado and Willis O' Brien are still top notch and unforgettable. Simply a great movie!!

VALLEY OF THE DRAGONS 1961 (SONY)

Based on a story by Jules Verne entitled "Career Of A Comet".

Two men who are about to duel over a woman are swept off of the earth by a comet that passes very close to the earth. Cesare Donova and Sean McClory are the two men swept into a prehistoric world full of mutants, dinosaurs, cavemen and cavewomen. Lots of stock footage is used, of course, but it is still a fun ride if you are capable of suspending your disbelief. Joan Staley and Danielle De Metz are two gorgeous cavewomen that make this kind of world liveable for the men. Sony released this on an MOD disc and it's a beautiful widescreen print. Recommended!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO.....

Meg Tilly is 53.

SNOW DEVILS 1967 (WARNER ARCHIVE)

Oh my what a film!

This is a very bizarre film that I first saw way back in the 70's on TV and hadn't seen it since. I liked it ok, but it is very odd.

A group of astronauts are sent to investigate the mysterious melting polar caps and a destroyed weather station in the Himalayan mountains. They find this if being done by a race of aliens that are actually Yeti's!!

Antonio Margeriti directed this gem and it stars Giocomo Rossi Stuart and Ombretta Colli who wer also in Planet On the Prowl as the same characters. This is not a bad way to spend 90 minutes and if you have a taste for Italian Sci-Fi with a very bizarre flavor, you might enjoy this one. Nice widescreen print from Warner Archive.

NO SURVIVORS PLEASE 1964 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Interesting sci-fi!!

Gorgeous Maria Perschy and Robert Cunningham star in this somewhat bizarre film about aliens taking over human bodies at the moment of death and then planning to wipe out the entire race.

This is sometimes slow, but always good West German sci-fi that has, what I consider to be a very good ending..it will throw you a little.

Sinister Cinema brings you this film with a very good print and if you like good story telling, then I would recommend this to you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO....

Kim Novak is 80, Bo Svenson is 72, George Segal is 79, Carol Lynley is 71 and Kelly Hu is 45.

UNEARTHLY STRANGER 1963 (SINISTER CINEMA)

A great obscure sci-fi film.

A man who works at a top secret plant soon discovers his wife is an alien from space sent to stop the rocket project he is working on.John Neville is the man and the beautiful Gabriella Licudi is his alien wife.

This film is beautifully played out as the suspense build to a climax that is a little bizarre, but a very welcome twist. Jean Marsh is a secretary who turns out to be something more than she appears.

By all means, if you get the chance see this gem. Filmmaking at it's best.

TEENAGE MONSTER 1958 (IMAGE)

Forgotten 50's horror.

Jacques Marquette directed this odd film about a young boy who is changed into a deformed giant after a meteor hits the mine he and his father are working in. His father dies and his mother raises him in secret.

Gil Perkins plays the monster and lovely Anne Gwynne is his mother. She desperately tries to hide the fact that he is the mysterious killer that he lover, the sheriff, played by Stuart Wade is hunting.

Gloria Castillo is a young woman who knows what is happening and starts blackmailing Gwynne. This is a bizarre film as they originally had the monster being able to talk, and then re-dubbed his dialogue into gibberish. Anne Gwynne talked about this in an interview once and she said it made the film simply awful as her character was able to understand what the monster said, while the people watching just scratched their heads.

This is a fun film which combines western and horror lore and that is a combination I always enjoy, and I hope you would too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...

Michael Ironside is 63, Maud Adams is 68,Qiana Chase is 32, and the late Edward L. Cahn was born on this day in 1899.

BLOOD SPORT: ECW 2005 (WWE)

One of the best!!

Some of the most violent matches from the pro wrestling promotion known as ECW. Matches include the barbed wire match between Terry Funk and Sabu which is truly one of the bloodiest matches ever shown and the classic match between Beulah McGillicutty and Bill Alfonso which is still the bloodiest match I have ever seen in over 30 years of watching this and being involved with it.

There are plenty more such as The Taipei Death match between Axl Rotten and Ian Rotten and much more. If you like bloodbaths, you'll love this 2 disc set hosted by Paul Dangerously.
