MORE RAMBLINGS....
I received a few emails about my comments on the movie Piranha when I said it didn't have heart and soul. Let me add this. When I say that is by no means describes the movie as less than a horror film in my eyes. In fact I enjoyed the film.
But I am 48 and a baby boomer who fondly remembers sitting in front of a flickering TV screen and watching Creature Features, Nightmare Theater and many other such programs, and then going to the movies almost weekly.
I am sentimental about those films and will always love them, to me they have much more of a connection with my inner self than anything today. The monster movies of the 40's, 50's, 60's 70' and 80's strike a chord with me.
These films were made with very little money by today's standards so the filmmakers had to be very creative in order to sell the movie to the public. These movie were made with loving care, well most of them anyway, not like today where they throw 300 million dollars at the movie and only succeed in making product.
I don't think most movies today will be fondly remembered by this generation as the films from my generation because they have no human connection to them. The films are as cold and empty as an ex wife's phone call when the alimony is late.
Just my 2 cents worth, but please understand I liked the new Piranha and I do like a few other modern films, but they lack my kind of heart and soul.
