HUNCHBACK OF THE MORGUE 1972 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Another classic Euro horror with Paul Naschy.

Naschy stars as a hunchback named Goto who is so in love with a young woman that when she dies he keeps he rotting corpse in an underground lair. He does have to keep the rats off of her however and that prompts one of the most unforgettable scenes in movie history as Naschy sets some of the rats on fire. He mentioned in his autobiography that he had to be inoculated against the rats because they actually bit him many times and the lady who played the girlfriend had to have the same thing done to her as she hand many crawling of her body when she was dead.

Soon Goto is being blackmailed by an evil doctor to steal corpses for his experiments which results in the creation of what I call a giant "muck man" that wails all the time and sounds angry as hell. This is truly a classic monster in Euro history and has to be seen to be believed.

The supporting cast is tops as usual and includes Vic Winner and the luscious Rosanna Yanni. If you get the chance, see this film...you'll never forget it. The print from Sinister is sometimes too dark, but not too bad. Recommended!!
