Daiei Studios made a comeback with this updating of the Gamera films. In this outing a hibernating Gyaos is awakened and begins killing people and eating them.
Gamera shows up to fight his old nemesis and the military misunderstands what Gamera is doing. This is a vast improvement over the earlier Gamera films and there is no "child" connection involved. The effects are very good and there are many battle between the monsters and the military.
This film was a welcome surprise for Japanese monster movie lovers back in 1995, and the film was so successful it spawned two more films.
If you like Japanese monsters, you'll love this updating of Gamera. Recommended!
