John Gavin had a very good career in TV and the movies as well as being President Ronald Reagan's first ambassador to Mexico.
Gavin is best known to film fans however as Sam Loomis in the Alfred Hitchcock classic "Psycho". It is his character who exposes Norman Bates for the insane human being that he is.
Gavin's last TV appearance was in a 1981 episode of "Fantasy Island". He was 86.
