JULIUS CAESAR AGAINST THE PIRATES 1962 (SINISTER CINEMA)

I had never heard of this fun little epic until about a month ago.

Gustavo Rojo stars as Julius Caesar who escapes from Rome after he learns that a conspiracy is afoot to eliminate him. He first takes refuge with the king of Bitinia.

He meets a woman there and offers to escort her to Rhodes. While en route his ship is attacked by pirates led by Hamar (Gordon Mitchell). Caesar is captured and held for ransom. He believes that he can get an even higher ransom that Hamar asks for, and that sets up the main plot for this sword and sandal epic.

Hamar sends some of his people to Rome to collect the ransom and Caesar vows to escape and kill them all. This is a very well done and colorful film that is always full of action.

The print from Sinister is widescreen and beautiful color. It's dubbed in English and anyone who is a fan of S&S films should add this to their collection.

The rest of the cast includes Abbe Lane, Piero Lulli and Franca Parisi. Recommended!!
