TERROR ON DINOSAUR ISLAND 12-26-65...This episode aired one day before I turned 3!! Admiral Nelson and Chief Sharkey are stranded on an island inhabited by dinosaurs and the Seaview tries to rescue them, but must contend with a huge monster below the surface as well. A great episode.
KILLERS OF THE DEEP 1-2-66...Nelson and Crane try and stop an evil foreign power from stealing nuclear missiles hidden at the bottom of the ocean. Michael Ansara stars along with Patrick Wayne.
DEADLY CREATURE BELOW 1-9-66...The Seaview rescues two escaped prisoners drifting in the ocean. The two men want to take over the sub, but things are made worse by the appearance of a giant sea monster. Paul Comi and Nehemiah Persoff star.
THE PHANTOM STIRKES 1-16-66...The Seaview runs afoul of a sunken German U-boat and it's ghostly captain. Alfred Ryder stars.
THE SKY'S ON FIRE 1-23-66...This is a slight re-working of the script for the original movie. Admiral Nelson must try and fire a missile into the Van Allen Radiation Belt in order to stop a ring of fire slowly burning the Earth. I have always called the a "money saving" episode as it culls a lot of stock footage from the original movie.
GRAVEYARD OF FEAR 1-30-66...Robert Loggia stars as a scientist who gets the Seaview to take him back to his sunken ship for a mysterious chemical he needs. A giant jellyfish makes the rescue a hazardous one indeed. This has a great little sub plot about eternal youth and it works very well.
THE SHAPE OF DOOM 2-6-66...As the Seaview lowers a 50 megaton bomb into an ocean canal, a giant whale attacks and swallows it. The Seaview must get it back. Kevin Hagen stars.
DEAD MAN'S DOUBLOONS 2-13-66...Albert Salmi stars as a crazed man working for an unnamed power who tries to destroy Seaview and it crew as well as the entire Western hemisphere.
THE DEATH SHIP 2-20-66...All of the Seaview crew except for Crane and Nelson are removed and replaced with 8 civilians to test some new equipment. It soon become apparent a mysterious killer is on board as people start dying one by one. Elizabeth Perry stars.
THE MONSTER'S WEB 2-27-66...Mark Richman stars in this great little episode about a sunken sub with volatile fuel canisters still on board. The Seaview tries to rescue the sub which is being held in the web of a giant underwater spider. Richard Basehart fell ill during the shooting and the show was re-written very quickly. You mostly only see the back of Nelson's head and hear dubbed over dialogue.
THE MENFISH 3-6-66...Excellent episode starring John Dehner as a mad scientist who is experimenting with human in creating "fishmen". Gary Merrill is Park, who is filling in for Admiral Nelson. Dehner's character of Borgman forces Park to help him in in experiments. Things get out of hand and one of the menfish becomes a huge giant monster.
THE MECHANICALMAN 3-13-66...Crane and the entire crew of the Seaview are locked in a life or death battle with a humanoid robot named Omir (James Darren) who is after a rare substance housed beneath the ocean floor.
RETURN OF THE PHANTOM 3-20-66...Alfred Ryder reprises his role as Kruger who is still trying to get Crane to die so he can enter his body and return to the land of the living. Co-starring the gorgeous Vitina Marcus.
That wraps up season two of Irwin Allen's best show in my opinion. Season 3 coming up shortly.
