THE BLACK BRIGADE 1970 (MILL CREEK)

Well made TV movie from producer Aaron Spelling.

Also known as "Carter's Army" this film stars Stephen Boyd as Sgt. Beau Carter, a racist man who is put in charge of a small group of men to take out a German bridge.

The group turns out to be a small infantry of black men whom, of course, Carter doesn't respect at all. Their leader is a rightfully bitter man named Lt. Edward Wallace (Robert Hooks). The plan is for Beau to lead himself and six of the men into what appears to be a suicide mission.

There are some good action scenes in this movie and the actors actually make you feel for the characters involved.

This is a good WW2 period movie and the cast makes it even more interesting. It includes Richard Pryor, Billie Dee Williams, Rosey Grier, Moses Gunn and Susan Oliver. The director is George McCowan, the same man who helmed one of my favorite horror films called "Frogs".

This movie is included in a set entitled "Soul Team Six" from Mill Creek. The print is very watchable and this movie should hold your attention.
