Don Johnson stars as a drifter who comes to a small town and gets a job as a used car salesman. He gets a a hotel room and starts his job and he finds himself attracted to the young secretary in the business owners office. The secretary is played by Jennifer Connelly and it's easy to see why Johnson falls for her.
The owner's wife, a sexy woman played by Virginia Madsen, seduces Johnson's character of Harry Madox. Maddox has been scouting the local bank and finds it unguarded, so he decides to make a huge bank heist. Between being with two women and plotting a heist Madox is very busy.
The plot gets even more twisting as everything that Maddox has planned slowly becomes a tangled mess in which he is forced, by the end of the movie to become the lover of Madsen's Dolly Harshaw.
Directed by Dennis Hopper, this is a modern film noir that does succeed on many levels. I actually has never heard of this film before I got this set, and it's not too bad. I would recommend it only if you are a fan of Johnson or Connelly and enjoy modern noir.
The rest of the cast includes Charles Martin Smith and William Sadler.
