THE DEADLY GAME 1954 (KIT PARKER)

As I continue my look at Hammer Film Noir I bring you a very interesting and fast moving crime film.

Lloyd Bridges stars as a songwriter named Philip Graham, who meets an old friend he hasn't seen in years named Tony Roscoe (Peter Dyneley).

Tony suddenly has to leave town quickly on "business" and Philip is puzzled. On his way back from driving Tony to the airport Philip is mugged. He discovers from the police and a man named Darius (Finlay Currie) that Tony has become mixed up in a nasty smuggling ring.

Tony returns to Spain and is killed. Philip is left with three mysterious rolls of microfilm that everyone seems to be after. Philip tries to elude the many people who are trying to kill him for the film.

There are a lot of neat little plot twists in the 63 minute feature directed by Daniel Birt. Bridges does very well in the lead role as a man thrown into something he cannot understand.

The rest of the cast includes Maureen Swanson, Ferdy Mayne, Mary Parker and the lovely Simone Silva. I can easily recommend this for any Noir fan.
