Gerald Mohr stars as Chuck Wheeler, an ex-con just released from the pen who has big plans for a major heist. His plan is to steal 2 million dollars in casino money from a Vegas establishment.
He enlists the aid of a shady casino operator named Joe Darren (Grant Richards) and gorgeous Vi Victor (Mamie Van Doren) who happens to be his ex-cellmate's wife.
Slowly but surely things are put into motion and all seems to be going well. Wheeler puts the make on Vi, and who the hell can blame him!! Mamie is smoldering hot, and the outfits she wears are incredibly sexy.
All is good until Vi's hothead husband, Mike (Lee Van Cleef) escapes from jail. He is trigger happy and refuses to grant Vi a divorce. His arrival upsets the plans as he kills Joe and threatens to do the same to Vi and Wheeler.
He turns everything upside down, but Wheeler agrees to have Mike help him in the heist. Needless to say everyone pays for their crimes in typical noir fashion.
This is the third film in the "Mamie Van Doren Film Noir Collection" from Kino and it looks great. It's also another in a long line of remarkable films from Edward L. Cahn distributed by United Artists, and I hope more of these are turned out by Kino or someone anyway.
The film is a very fast moving compact film as is usual with Cahn. Mamie steals the show, as usual. She looks fantastic and was one of the first women I ever saw in film that had a very sexual effect on me as a young viewer. Yep I admit that with no problem.
This is an excellent set with good quality prints of films that most people sadly ignore. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
