Williams III started in movies in 1959 and found a little work for the next 9 years. However in 1968 he landed the title role as Lincoln Hayes, a young man who with two others were spared jail if they joined a special unit to fight crime. The show was called THE MOD SQUAD and it ran from 1968 thru 1973.
It was a role he would always be know for. After the series ended he appeared in many, many tv shows like T.J. HOOKER, THE COSBY SHOW and TALES FROM THE CRYPT.
He also had unforgettable roles in such films as 52 PICKUP, TOUGHT GUYS DON'T DANCE, and TALES FROM THE HOOD.
He passed away on June 4th at the age of 81 from cancer. He will always be remembered as one of the coolest men on TV in THE MOD SQUAD.
