I am still waiting for this film to get an official release from Synapse and while I wait I pulled out my old DVD-R of this film and what a treat it is.
This is classic Hammer with Peter Cushing as a tyrannical man who burns women whom he suspects as being witches at the stake. In the meantime two absolutely gorgeous women arrive at his home. He is their uncle and he greets them with nothing but disdain for the clothes they are wearing, while the male viewers of the film welcome it with gusto!!
Madeline and Mary Collinson plays twins who come to live with Cushing and his wife. One is pure and innocent while the other is looking for every sin she can find. She runs into Count Karnstein and he proceeds to turn her into a vampire so they can both relish a life of evil.
This is one of my mosy cerhished movies as a child. My mother took me to see this on a triple bill with Hands of The Ripper and Night Of The Lepus, I was 10 at the time and I am sure she was a little bit uncomfortable with some of the nudity and gore in the first 2 films but I will never forget it.
This film is coming out soon but I have no date set yet as I have heard nothing from Synapse. Highly Recommended for fans of Hammer horror. One of the best films of it's kind.
