QUEEN KONG 1976 (RETROMEDIA)

Another one of a kind film!! Made in 1976, this ultra rare and bizarre movie was banned from being shown after Dino DeLaurentis sued to have showings stopped when he claimed in was a copyright infringement on his remake of King Kong.
Frank Agrama directed this weird turn around take on the story. Sexy Rula Lenska is a movie director named Luce Habit who kidnapped a gay man named Ray Fay played by Robin Askwith and they travel to an island and meet an all female tribe ruled by the lucious Valerie Leon who worship a giant female ape named Kong.
The ape falls for Fay and you know the rest. London is destroyed, people break out in musical numbers for no apparent reason and one of my favorite British actresses, Linda Hayden is on hand in a brief scene as a singing nun on an airplane that Kong destroys.
None of this is to be taken very seriously of course, and the movie does poke fun at homesexuality and women lib, both topics long overdue for some ribbing.
The film actually works on many levels and it is a very good thing that Retromedia finally got this gem out to be seen again. If you want something completely different, check it out.
