Jayne is Billie, the leader of a small time gang of hoods who plan a robbery and then set Quayle's character of Jim up for conviction of the robbery.
After he is sent to jail, Jim refuses to say where the money is hidden. He discovers after his release that the money is still buried in the same place, but now it is impossible to get as tons of explosives that are due to be destroyed sit on top of it.
the police, led by Detective Gittens (Edward Judd) keep an eye on Jim as they want to recover the money as well. The gang threatens Jim when he refuses to help them, and as time goes by the even kidnap his son. Billie knows nothing of the kidnapping and gets shot for her efforts to free the boy. The rest of the gang attempt to kill the boy, an the cat and mouse chase between Jim ans the gangsters is very well done.
John Gilling directed this film at a very goo pace, and it is odd to see Mansfield as the leader of a gang. Jayne is one of my favorite screen personalities and I always welcome the chance to see her in anything. Her performance is very good and should please any of her fans.
The ending is handled very well and it really brings out the noir flavor of the film. A goo crime drama not to be missed, and the print that Sinister has is very good.
