This is one of those films I hated when I was younger, but now I can really appreciate as a work of great story telling.
A scientist is severely injured in an assassination attempt and the only way to save him is to shrink a doctor and his small scientific team as well as a submarine and send them into his body to save him.
Stephen Boyd is Grant, a man working for the Government that is put in charge of the daring operation. Also along on the trip is Dr. Duval (Arthur Kennedy) his assistant Cora (Raquel Welch), Capt. Bill Owens (William Redfield) and Dr. Michaels (Donald Pleasence)
The journey thru the human body is overseen by the military including General Carter (Edmond O' Brien) and Col. Donald Reid (Arthur O' Connell). The effects are still to this day very groundbreaking and influential.
The cast is perfect and everyone works very well together. Director Richard Fleischer keeps the story moving at a fast pace which keeps the viewer glued to what is happening. 53 years later and it still has an impact to this day.
If you have never seen this movie, you should. Don't be like me and almost miss one of the most creative movies and stories ever put to film.
