COLONEL MARCH OF SCOTLAND YARD 1955/56 (FILM CHEST)

I bought this set of all 26 episodes because of the great Boris Karloff.

The 26 episodes ran from 1954 to 1956 and was a syndicated show. Karloff is Colonel March who works for the "Department Of Queer Complaints" which is a branch of Scotland Yard that looks into bizarre cases of murder, etc.

Each episode runs about 26 minutes and it's always a joy to see Karloff in anything. His co-star in this series is Ewan Roberts as Inspector Ames.

Here is a rundown of the episodes. These are listed as they appear on the 3 disc set.

THE SORCERER 10/1/55...A man is killed in a locked room with a hatpin.

THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN 10/8/55...March has to investigate when a monster attacks members of the British Himalayan Club.

PRESENT TENSE 10/15/55...March is contacted by hie niece who claims she is being haunted by a ghost.

AT NIGHT ALL CATS ARE GRAY 10/22/55...A young model is murdered after contacting March in a frantic cry for help. Christopher Lee stars in this episode.

CASE OF THE KIDNAPPED POODLE 11/5/55...A man has March investigate a stolen diamond and his missing poodle, which have something in common.

THE INVISIBLE KNIFE 10/29/55...Terence Fisher directed this episode about a man murdered with no weapon in sight, but March finds it right in front of his eyes.

THE STRANGE EVENT AT ROMAN FALL 2/4/56...A woman is accused of killing her mystery writing husband.

THE HEADLESS HAT 11/12/55...While on a vacation, Marcg gets tangled in a smuggling case.

THE SECOND MONA LISA 11/26/55...A group oc men gather for the chance to buy what is called the second Mona Lisa, but murder gets in the way.

DEATH IN INNER SPACE 12/10/55...March is invited by a scientist to come to his home after claiming to make contact with beings from space.

THE TALKING HEAD 12/17/55...A young boy takes orders from his dead father to avenge his death. Peter Asher stars as the boy.

THE DEVIL SELLS HIS SOUL 1/7/56...March is forced to use hypnosis in order to solve a murder at a secluded mansion. Patricia Laffan stars.

MURDER IS PERMANENT 1/14/56...March has to find the killer of a salon owner with many enemies.

THE SILENT VOW 1/21/56...March and his friend see a man die in a cafe after drinking wine from a certain monestary. Anton Differing stars.

DEATH AND THE OTHER MONKEY 1/28/56...March investigates the death of a scientist who claimed that his project was being tampered with.

THE STOLEN CRIME 2/11/56...A man turns up at Scotland Yard demanding to be arrested for a murder he hasn't happend yet.

THE SILVER CURTAIN 2/18/56...A gambler offers a man down on his lluck to make 80,000 francs. The gambler is murdered and now March must solve the case. Anton Differing and Arthur Hill star.

ERROR AT DAYBREAK 2/25/56...March is on vacation when he witnesses a man dying on the beach. Was it a heart attack or murder?

HOT MONEY 3/3/56...A bank robbery is committed and an lawyer is suspected. This was one of three episodes made into a feature film entitled "Colonel March Investigates".

THE MISSING LINK 11/19/55...When a priceless skull is stolen from a museum, March must investigate and discover a motive.

CASE OF THE MISGUIDED MISSAL 12/3/55...March is called on when a 15th century prayer book moves about on its own.

THE DEADLY GIFT 12/24/55...A beautiful young woman receives a gift of a music box from a bar patron from 10 years before and it just might make her find her legacy.

THE CASE OF THE LIVELY GHOST 12/31/55...A seance might have raised a real ghost and Colonel March is called on to investigate the strange goings on.

DEATH IN THE DRESSING ROOM 3/10/56...A famouse Javanese dancer is killed in a blackmail scheme and Colonel March must find the killer.

THE NEW INVISIBLE MAN 3/17/56...March is called in to solve the case of a man murdered by a pair of disembodied gloves. Patricia Owens stars in this episode, and she is gorgeous as always.

PASSAGE OF ARMS 3/24/56...When a woman turns up dead March investigates a French fencing team to find the killer.

This is a well made show that any Karloff fan would enjoy. The list of guest stars in impressive and each story has Karloff doing what he did best, entertaining the audience. Recommended.
