This film is about a Bayou monster that is half alligator and half human. Six people travel into the bayou and are stalked by the killer creature. The movie does a good job of telling you why this monster is running around, even if it is highly improbable.
The cast does a very good job of acting and the only name actor in the cast is Sid Haig who does his usual steller job.
The monster is a guy in a suit, and so that ALWAYS is a plus to me, and no CGI crap whatsoever!! This actually harkens back to Slithis from 1978.
If you like monster movies that are just that, monster movies, then you'll probably like this. There is some gore, but it is to be expected in these kinds of film. I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would.
This movie has suffered from a bad rap as it had the second worst opening day of any movie in history, and that is a sad thing when you figure how difficult making a small film like this is.
The director, I believe, made the mistake of putting this in theaters at a time when audiences only want to see drivel like Hunger Games, The Avengers and other such garbage.
This is the type of movie that should only get a direct to DVD release. I believe they make more money that way. Back in 1998 when I released my final film as a director, I opted for Direct To Video, and I think the people behind this film should have as well.
If you get a chance, watch it and give it half a chance. Recommended!!
