Tuesday Weld stars in her first feature as a young girl trying to save up enough money to buy a dress for a school dance. She comes up with a clever scheme, but it ends up backfiring.
This was the 3rd of 5 films starring Disc Jockey Alan Freed and every one of them is excellent. This little gem was released by DCA and has it's screenplay written by Milton Subotsky of Hammer Films fame. It was produced by Subotsky and Max Rosenberg, a team that made many, many great little horror films.
Freed introduces many of the acts in this film which include Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, Johnny Burnette Trio, The Flamingo's, The Moonglows, Chuck Berry and LaVern Baker.
if you're looking for a time capsule of a great era in American history, this is it. Freed, of course was the man who really started the Rock n' Roll movement in the 50's despite being called everything in the book and destroyed by the authorities who didn't want white kids dancing with black kids.
A great film and one that should be seen. I was surprised that Sinister turned this out. Recommended!!
