CONE OF SILENCE 1960 (SONY)

A very interesting movie.

This was retitled "Trouble In The Sky" and I believe that is because it simply sounds better.

This movie deals with Britain at the dawn of Jet aviation and a manufacturer that tries to shift the blame for some accidents on pilot error, which in turn can destroy lives and careers.

The movie opens during a hearing for a pilot that is accused of making an error. That pilot, Capt. Gort (Bernard Lee) is found guilty of error and must re-apply for the right to flight jets.

As the story goes on we learn a lot about how these planes are made and how the men who fly them are trained. The cast is top notch and on top of their game in this film.

This story is based on real life events, but the movie ends on a good note while the incidents in real life ended in tragedy. I had never heard of the movie, but whe I saw the cast I knew I had to see it.

The rest of the cast includes Peter Cushing, Michael Craig, Elizabeth Seal, George Sanders, Andre Morell, Gordon Jackson and Delphi Lawrence. This is a well made drama that I would easily recommend to any movie buff. It's kind of rare so it was nice to see it available on TUBI.
