THE APE MAN 1943 (SINISTER CINEMA)

Wow, after so much mordern horror films, I had to go back to my roots.

Bela Lugosi stars as Dr. James Brewster, a man onsessed with his experiments. He has accidentally turned himself into an ape man and now he seeks a cure.

The cure involves killing people and taking some of their spinal fluid. Two reporters, Billie Mason (Louise Currie) and Jeff Carter (Wallace Ford) are on the story and trying to find the mysterious killer.

Brewster uses an ape to kill his victims and forces a doctor to inject him with the fluid. James sister Abigail (Minerva Urecal) helps him but gets caught by the police.

In the thrilling ending, Billie is trapped in the lab with the ape that has now killed Brewster and is running wild. The police kill the monster and BIllie and Jeff look like they might have a future ahead of them.

Yes, this is a silly film, but it is FUN and God knows I needed it after all of the previous reviews I have done in the last week and a half. William Beaudine directed this Monogram favorite.
