THE FLY 1958 (FOX)

The one and only classic terror tale.

David Hedison stars as Andre Delambre, a scientist who has discovered a way to transmit matter from one place to another. That's the good news, the bad news is that when he tries it on himself a common housefly gets into the machinery with him and he is turned into a monster.

Patricia Owens is his wife Helene and Vincent Price is his brother. This movie contains one of the best scenes in horror history when Owens thinks that her husband is back to normal and takes off the covering he has over his head only to discover he still has the head of a fly.

Great make-up effects and excellent acting made this a huge money maker for Fox back in 1958, and the story and movie still hold up very well today. The scene in the spiers web with the small fly with the human head and arm screaming for help will always stay with my collective conscience. If you haven't ever seen this film I recommend you do, and soon.
