The movie opens with 6 ex-confederate soldiers killing members of the army and stealing a box full of money. Their leader, Amison (Robert Dix) decides they need to become full time killers and thieves, but they need a good leader.
They make their way to the secluded home of their former leader Justice Cain (Scott Brady). During the war he led them under the name Cain's Cutthroats. When they arrive they see he has settled down and has a wife and child.
He refuses to join them so the men rape his black wife and kill her. They also kill his child and burn his house down. Justice is also shot and left for dead.
When Justice regains his senses he finds himself in the company of a bible spouting preacher named Simms (John Carradine) who also happens to be a bounty hunter who collects the heads of his victims and keeps them in a barrel for preservation!
Justice vows revenge on the six men who destroyed his life and Simms joins him. This is a brutal film with some damned bloody gun battles. Ken Osborne directed this grim little western.
The rest of the cast includes Don Epperson, Adair Jameson, Bruce Kimball and Velda Hanson. RECOMMENDED!!
