This is the story of an alcoholic invalid named Claris Manning who is hell bent on destroying the lives of her entire family.
What sets her off is that her youngest daughter Carol (Candy Hammond) has invited the entire family to get together for Christmas, and Claris (Maggie Rogers) hates the idea.
When the other family members arrive the almost insane Claris makes everyone's life living hell. Soon, members of the family are staring to die one by one.
This is a very dark movie and there really isn't one likeable character in it. The black and white photography is very nice for a Milligan film and I assume that is because it has been beautifully restored by Severin.
This is the version that has some inserted sex scenes which really add nothing to the plot, but were put in for money making reasons. They actually slow the film to a crawl.
However, I can really recommend this film if you want to see something dark and haunting and depending on your mood, it might never leave your mind. One of the best Milligan films I have seen.
