David Janssen plays a veteran of the Korean War that helps a former buddy out that saved his life. Said friend is Matt Jameson, played by Jeffrey Hunter and the help is getting him involved in a heist of three and a half million dollars from a South American dictator.
Hunter's sexy wife is played by Stella Stevens and she really screws him over and proves herself to be one of the screen's best evil women.
Hunter goes along with the scheme and finds much more than he bargained for. Janssen's character is killed and Hunter is left holding the ball so to speak. Actor Edmond O' Brien directed this tense film noir. It was his second and last directorial effort and what an effort it is.
Stark black and white photography, a tense script an top notch acting, especially from Stevens. This one came very late in the film noir cycle, but this is a great and innovative little film. Olive has done film collectors a favor by turning this out in an excellent blu-ray presentation.
If you like film noir this is a winner!!
