THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE 1946 (WARNER)

Excellent film noir on Blu-ray.

John Garfield stars as a man who is drifting across the country when he happens upon a small Diner run by a man and his much younger wife. The man is played by the wonderful Cecil Kellaway and the woman is played by the incredibly sexy Lana Turner. When you first see her you know that Garfield is in serious trouble.

They fall for each other and plot to kill her husband. The first attempt fails, but the District Attorney has his suspicions. The second attempt succeeds, but they are caught by the DA and trapped in the wheels of justice. Both get off after lawyers play their little games, but all is not well.

This is one of the best movies of it's kind ever made and the ending will explain the title. James cain wrote the novel on which this is based, but the studio had to tame it down for a 1946 audience. Nevertheless, this is how films should be made. Garfield and Turner are standouts.

The rest of the cast includes Leon Ames as the DA, Hume Cronyn, Audrey Totter and Alan Reed. The film looks spectacular in Blu-ray and I simply cannot recommend this film enough. They don't make film like this or women like Lana Turner anymore.
