A Samurai warrior that was killed 400 years ago is discovered frozen in Japan. His body is shipped to Los Angeles where a research firm brings him back to life during an experiment.
When he awakens, the Samurai, Yoshimitsu is surprised by his modern day surroundings as he finds the world a very bizarre place. In other words, a lot has changed in 400 years.
John Calvin is Dr. Richards, a man who will do anything to make the experiment a success. Janet Julian is Chris Wells, a young woman assisting Richards who slowly starts to understand the Samurai. During one night one of the interns breaks into Yoshimitsu's room and is killed.
This starts a long chase with the police tracking Yoshimitsu and attempting to kill him as they believe he is a murderer. The film ends on a rather sad note as the Samurai cannot possibly live in our world.
This movie is an Empire Films Production, and up until this point I had never heard of it. Albert, Charles and Richard Band are the brains behind this film, and it is an interesting one. I have read so much negative press about this film, and I cannot really see the justification in that. To enjoy a film like this one must be able to suspend disbelief and simply go along for the ride.
I like this film and on the Blu-ray from Shout it looks fantastic. It is on a ddouble feature with the film I reviewed yesterday entitled "HOUSE WHERE EVIL DWELLS". Forget all the negative stuff an check this out for yourself and make your own decision.
