We kick it off with number 30....
30. LIVING ON THE RAZOR'S EDGE: THE SCOTT HALL STORY (WWE)...Spectacular 3 DVD set encompassing the life of Scott Hall. Hall was a major figure in the pro wrestling era between the 1980's and late 90's. He fought personal demons and it brought his career to a standstill. One of the best sets ever from WWE.
29. DEVIL'S MISTRESS (SINISTER CINEMA)...One of my personal favorites. Four cowboys run afoul of a succubus in the old west. This is a very obscure gem from 1966. It's not very well acted or anything, but I love this film, and it would have rated higher if not for all the other great releases this year.
28. CROSSROADS/ULTIMATE BOB WILKINS INTERVIEW (SINISTER CINEMA)...Interesting DVD from Sinister. The first is a 20 minute short starring Christopher Lee as a mysterious hitchhiker who is actually a spirit seeking revenge. The second feature is a 30 minute interview with the King of Horror Hosts...Bob Wilkins. I grew up with Wilkins and it is very interesting to hear him speak of his great show "Creature Features" and what his all time favorite movie was on that show. Simply a MUST for horror fans.
27. ASTRO ZOMBIES (KINO) BLU-RAY...The classic Ted V. Mikels film starring Tura Satana and John Carradine. To me, a great film that is highly entertaining. Many thanks to Kino for making it available on Blu. Watch out for those mad scientists and astro men!!
26. NIGHT OF THE DEVILS (SINISTER CINEMA)...I had never seen this film until I got the print from Sinister. One of the best Euro horror films I have ever seen about a man who stumbles onto a family living in a secluded area in the woods that seem to be very frightened of...well something anyway. great twist ending.
25. THE STUFF (ARROW) BLU-RAY...Larry Cohen gem about a killer food that resemble yogurt!! Top performances by Michael Moriarty and Garrett Morris. A very original film that really delivers the goods.
24. RETURN OF GODZILLA (KRAKEN) BLU-RAY...Finally the film we all knew as Godzilla 1985 arrives in it's uncut glory in a Japanese print! It's a very well made film that really suffered from US editing and dubbing. This was on top of the Amazon sales list for a few weeks when it came out. It rightfully deserves respect.
23. BUBBA HO-TEP (SHOUT FACTORY) BLU-RAY...Bruce Campbell stars as Elvis Presley and Ossie Davis is John Kennedy. Both reside in a rest home in East Texas and find themselves fighting a soul sucking mummy! Yep, it's a one of a kind film that delivers both laughs and thrills as well as a few pathos. Excellent movie!!
22. JUST DESSERTS (SYNAPSE) BLU-RAY... This is an excellent documentary about the movie "Creepshow" from 1982. If you're a fan of the film like I am, this is a must have. I don't know why it took so long to be released, but thank God it's finally here.
21. CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (VCI) BLU-RAY...One of the most memorable films from the 70's. The dead rise and attack a group of young film makers on an island. The film has never looked better and VCI should be commended for bringing it to Blu-ray.
