This played on a double bill with "Frogs" back in the day and I, for a very long time considered this one of the worst films I had ever seen.
Over the years I have changed my mind and really enjoy this film. It is absurd at times, but it is also very dark. A monster that thrives on pollution starts to grow and has the ability to change shapes as well.
Godzilla comes along to destroy the monster and the two have several battles. People die of pollution by the hundreds until Godzilla and the army finish off the monster. Godzilla pulls out the monstes eyes and guts and throws them everywhere in an ending I thought was kind of wild.
The Blu-ray looks fantastic, but again, the Japanese print is used and so we get the theme song in Japanese, not English, but whose complaining. The woman singing the song is sexy as hell and then we go into what is one of the most entertaining Godzilla films made.
