FRONTIER UPRISING 1961 (AMAZON PRIME)

A little while back it was raining and very cold all day so since I had the day off anyway I decided to indulge in my own personal Edward L. Cahn festival and over the next few days I will be posting what I watched. This is the first of many Cahn entries coming to this blog.

Edward Cahn is one of my favorite directors and I have been hooked on his films since I was 12 when I first saw "Invisible Invaders". Cahn had a style all of his own, and I admire it, GREATLY!

In this well made western Jim Davis stars as Jim Stockton, who agrees to lead a wagon train across a trail to California which is Mexican owned and it will be a very dangerous trip.

Stockton and his companions, McBride (Ken Mayer) and Lopez (David Renard) are not aware that Mexico has declared war on the US and that the Mexican army has enlisted Chief Taztay (Herman Rudin) and his tribe as allies.

The wagon train is attacked by Taztay's warriors but are repelled and it becomes clear that something has to be done in order to survive the trip. A beautiful Spanish woman named Consuela Montalvo (Nancy Hadley) starts falling for Stockton and it is her father Don Carlos Montalvo (Nestor Paiva) who helps the pioneers overcome the odds.

The rest of the cast includes Stuart Randall, Tudor Owens and Don Kelly. Not too shabby of a western considering the limited time and budget Cahn was working with. This 68 minute feature does move along quite well, and if you like westerns you might want to check this out.
