WALKING TARGET 1960 (AMAZON PRIME)

A very good gangster film as I continue my look at the films of the great Edward L. Cahn.

Ron Foster stars as Nick Harbin a man just released from prison after serving 5 years. During his time in prison he never revealed where the hidden quarter million dollars is.

Upon leaving prison he is met by Susan Mallory (gorgeous Merry Anders) who wishes to rekindle her romance with Nick. They both go to his home which Susan owns niw and discover that another friend is there waiting for him as well.

Nick begins to feel pressure as everyone seems to be watching him including two detectives, the media and other gangster. Everyone wants the hidden loot. Nick begins to think the money isn't worth it after 5 years in prison.

This thought is hammered home when another gangster named Arnie Hoffman (Barry Kroeger) starts to make life miserable for Nick. It salso turns out that Susan is working for Arnie and Nick feels betrayed. He then goes to a small town in Arizona to see an old girlfriend he once loved and still does actually.

The ending to this film was really a surprise to me. I won't give it away, but it does not follow the pattern a viewer is expecting.

Foster turns in a great performance as Nick and everyone else in the cast is good as well.Merry Anders steals the show as Susan, the double crossing beautiful dame.

Another winner from the team of Robert E. Kent and Edward L. Cahn.
