INSIDE THE MAFIA 1959 (AMAZON PRIME)

One of the most violent of Edward Cahn's movies. This film was such an influence to me that I bought the original poster for the film and still own it today.

This great tale opens with a Mafia hit on a gangster named Augie Martello (Ted de Corsia). He doesn't die from the hit, but is transferred to a secluded hospital to recover.

Martello sends for his number 2 man named Tony Ledo (Cameron Mitchell) and Ledo works out a plan to have Martello made into the leader of the Mafia during a super secret meeting that is going to be help in upstate New York.

Ledo plans to kill rival gang member Johnny Lucero (Grant Richards) when he arrives at a small airport and that will clear the way for Martello to get the leadership. Ledo heads to a small airport along with a couple of gangmembers, the most violent one being Sam Galey (Robert Strauss).

They invade the small home of the airport landing strip owner and then things really get violent as Tony and his men slap, beat and punch anyone of the members of the family who gets out of line.

While waiting for the plane to land Tony learns that Martello has died and this makes Ledo believe that if he spares the life of Lucero, that he can gain favor and become a leader of the "Northern Territories".

Things don't go as planned and there are plenty of crosses and double crosses in the final 20 minutes of this film. The brutality in this film is harsh, especially with Ledo and Sam always beating up a captive cop and Sam's demise is violent and very well done.

The rest of the cast includes James Brown, Ed Platt, Elaine Edwards, Carol Nugent and Frank Gerstle.

A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED film you simply must check out.
