DARK PLACES 1974 (SINISTER CINEMA)

A VERY underrated thriller.

A dying man named Andrew Marr (Robert Hardy) tells a man who takes care of his estate that money is hidden in the walls of his mansion. He tells him this on his death bed.

The man named Edward Foster (Robert Hardy) immediately goes to the house and before too long is met by Dr. Ian Mandeville (Christopher Lee) and his sexy sister Sarah (Joan Collins).

Sarah offers to help Edward clean up the house and slowly seduces him. You see, Ian and Sarah also want the money and they will stop at nothing to get it. However everyone soon learns that the house is haunted.

Edward slowly looses his sanity and starts "becoming" Andrew Marr once again. The ghosts drive him to the brink as he soon becomes a raving madman who kills anyone who gets in his way. This bodes badly for both Ian and Sarah.

This is a great little thriller that really isn't too well known and that's a shame. Lee is perfect in his role and Hardy steals the show as the elderly Marr who dies at the beginning of the film and the lunatic Foster at the end.

Joan Collins is...well...Joan Collins. A sexy woman who will stop at nothing to get money. Herbert Lom also stars in this unique thriller from director Don Sharp as does Jean Marsh.

I watched this with my wife and she guessed many of the plot points and she actually knew what would happen at the conclusion. I was impressed with that. She does like these kinds of films a much as I do.

The print is beautiful and widescreen. If you haven't seen this I suggest you seek it out and have a good time with it.
